We are sorry to report that a small, black dog--about the size and look of a French bull dog--was abandoned on our block earlier this week. The dog was placed in a canvas bag with wheels and left in front of 305/309.
A small group of neighbors found him on a scorching hot afternoon and Jack H took him to the vet on W. 55th and Ninth. But alas, nothing could be done. The dog was either already dead or passed away shortly after arriving at the vet's office.
One person reported seeing a woman earlier on the block with a dog in a canvas bag but no one knows who she is or why she came here.
